About Me

Since graduating college, I have been able to share my passion for art with children as an art teacher for more than eleven years. My favorite parts of that job have been guiding students to become creative problem solvers and seeing them work through processes to create amazing works of art. I also love the conversations I have with kids critiquing art. The insight children have never ceases to amaze me. When working with kids I always set up clear expectations and rules but allow them to make their own choices and have fun in the process. Safety is always critical as well.

I’ve also spent a lot of time throughout the years caring for my niece and nephew and entertaining them and their friends. There is a never dull moment and some of our favorite (and my personal favorite) activities are hiking, dance parties (music is a huge part of our lives), playing soccer, fishing, attending art events, playing with the dogs (I have two), reading, movie nights, cooking and art making time. I honestly feel like everything I encounter in life helps inspire me with new ideas and motivates me to work with children. They always surprise me and are eager to learn.

I have professional childcare experience with…

Infants, Toddlers, Pre-school aged children, Elementary school aged children, Middle school aged children, Children with special needs, Multiples

I will be SmartSitting while…

Collaborating with some artist friends of mine, who have a studio in Chelsea.

In 5 years, I hope to be…

I hope to be creating art and sharing my passion for art with children in some capacity. This may be through teaching art in a school setting, to the children I nanny or as head of Education Outreach program for local artists.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children…

I love to teach & share anything art related (drawing, painting, sculpting, weaving, etc.), story telling, acting, playing sports (soccer, softball and volleyball mostly), tap dancing and jewelry making. I also cook a bit, and especially enjoy introducing new foods to kids.
