About Me

My childcare philosophy is to engage children with creative and innovative learning through music and storytelling. I am a writer who is working on her books, a singer, and a musician. I have found that the same imaginative impulses that inspire music and storytelling also help fuel creative and innovative learning environments with children. For example, on one of my recent nannying jobs, during travel time in the car I made up stories to go along with classical music. This exposed my charges to a new repertoire of music, as well as invigorating their imaginations and spirits through the storytelling. With over ten years of childcare experience, including classroom teaching, I am well versed in structuring activities and ensuring that the day’s schedule is adhered to. I myself am a vegetarian and am committed to healthy eating. I also love to play pretend games, and am never afraid to get down on the ground and pretend to be a lion. I am confident of my abilities to both organize a household and engage the children in a happy and loving environment.

When working with children, I am committed to fostering an engaging, creative, and happy environment that encourages learning and play. I will frequently invent songs to go with daily tasks, including teeth-brushing songs and cooking songs and homework songs, inviting everyone to be engaged in what must get done during the course of a day. My extensive experience with special-needs children has also prepared me to ensure that every child can be involved in every activity, and I am committed to adjusting any activity to be inclusive to all children in the household. In my free time, I enjoy being involved in my synagogue, honing my writing, practicing yoga in the park, volunteering as a music tutor, and keeping up on innovations in innovative pedagogy to improve my own skills.
