About Me

I am a concert soprano who enjoys opera and multimedia performance. I am also a student of midwifery and lactation. I have founded a small doula practice, and have served in diverse communities to help families through the joyous transition of welcoming a new baby into their lives. I have worked with over 20 families as a birth or postpartum doula. I currently teach childbirth education classes at Mount Sinai Physicians Brooklyn Heights and have taught for Bronx Lebanon Family Practice. I work closely with a business partner, mentor young doulas, and am establishing a service organization for doulas in the NYC area.

My work with children is geared towards engaging them creatively, and prodding them to learn. With infants, I am totally breastfeeding supportive. I am a little bit like Mary Poppins, enthusiastic about establishing and maintaining boundaries and routines for children, but never losing sight of play, fun, and music. My work with children is child-centered, developmentally modulated, and enthusiastic.

I am a member of a worker-member food coop, and am a proponent of home cooking and ethical eating. My own kitchen is a mostly organic, mostly vegetarian, mostly kosher kitchen, where I focus on fresh, whole, varied foods, grass-fed animal products, wild-caught local fish, and delicious heirloom kitchen traditions over restrictive diets. My kitchen is also the center of my organic herbal home remedy preparations, and this always some decoction gracing my stovetop, and colored jars on my windowsill. Aches and pains and colds begone!
