About Me

Since I was very young, I knew while watching people on stage that that was where I wanted to be. I also knew that I wanted to inspire people to follow their own dreams, and that’s where my love of working with children comes in. I grew up around a number of teachers (in my family and friends of the family), so I was given great examples of how to be an effective teacher and nurturer. While I was in college, I worked for America Reads, which allowed me in-classroom experience tutoring elementary school students. One of my first jobs out of college was working at Gymboree Play & Music, where I found how rewarding it can be to be a part of a child’s early development. I then moved on to teaching voice lessons and directing children and teenagers in full-scale productions. Nothing could have prepared me for the look on a child’s face when they grasp a new concept or start to improve on a skill that is important to them.

When teaching or taking care of children, I make my expectations clear while encouraging the children to have fun while learning. My time with them is positive, with an emphasis on safety. My particular interests are music, theater, reading, crafts, history, and travel. I also love discovering new places in New York, discovering all that this city has to offer. I’m always learning new things (currently, I’m working on learning guitar, ukulele, and French language), and I encourage the children I work with to be curious and find new things to learn. I take great joy in helping children to find their greatest strengths and develop a strong sense of who they are.
