I am a singer, songwriter, and educator. I am currently pursuing a doctorate where I am focusing on analysis and performance of early music. I sing and perform all kinds of music, from early/contemporary opera, to premiering new works, to jazz, with many groups around New York City including Tempus Continuum, West Side 5 and Ensemble Musica Humana. I also sing professionally in the oldest Catholic Church in NYC!
My love for teaching over the last six years has manifested itself in a program I created in Amherst, MA, which I took to NYC, in which I help kids to create mini-musicals. The kids act, sing, solve problems together, and create beautiful tales using their original and creative young minds. I also teach “Music for Babies” where I foster parent/child bonding through music, and I introduce the smallest of children to new sounds, rhythms, sights and sensations. I also volunteer in hospitals as a performer with Musicians On Call.
I encourage children to be themselves while promoting kindness, communication skills, and education in our sessions together. I like to make everything into a game and I have been told that I’m a fantastic “game inventor.” It’s great when games can be educational as well! I also have a strong passion for crafts and artistic projects, as my mother is a painter/artist. I learned from her and also from many fantastic art teachers while I was working at an Arts Intensive in the summers, and now I have a vast repertory of fun art projects. Having me as a babysitter means fun, learning, laughter, productivity and lots of music!
