I am a certified elementary and special education teacher living in Brooklyn, where I teach third grade with the non-profit organization Building Educated Leaders for Life. To continue my education, I am also preparing for graduate studies in education psychology, and can commit to caregiving in the New York area for one year.
One reason I would like to babysit is because I find spending time with young people individually or in small groups to be an effective way of recognizing and cultivating their unique gifts. For example, in my current teaching position, I am also assisting the children in presenting a talent show at the end of the year. This entails working with each participant to clarify and develop his or her act, which is rewarding for me both paternally and artistically.
I strive to be a well-rounded person and I am able to relate to young people with a diversity of abilities and interests. In addition to a background in dance and music (I am trained on several instruments and perform regularly), I also read widely and enjoy cooking, sports, and yoga. It would be my pleasure to apply my pedagogical and extracurricular skills in structuring wholesome activities for children in a home setting.
