I am a New York native who has been working with children since 2007. Upon my return from Colorado in 2011, after attaining a Masters in Counseling Psychology, my education in mindfulness practices and work experience in massage therapy has allowed me to cultivate skills to guide children whereby they can blossom within their all-around development. While caring for children ages 4 through 12, I have incorporated yoga, emotional regulation techniques, sports and chess to address their emotional needs. Through mindfulness, music, art, and constructive play, children are allowed to explore their world as well as themselves in a creative fashion.
In 2013, I volunteered at Brotherhood Sister Sol in West Harlem mentoring a 12-year-old boy in an after-school program whose mother had passed away. In the quality time spent together we were able to discuss goals, the value of rewards and consequences due to one’s actions and the pain of losing a parent.
In addition to mentoring, I have been involved in various gardening projects around the city and is a member of the Halsey Community Garden in Brooklyn for the purpose of sustainability and quality produce. Through my involvement in urban gardening, I have been able to witness children’s fascination with worms, beetles, soil, compost and sprouting plants. Through all of my experiences and by applying structure, boundaries, and consistency, I believe I provide a safe, fun, learning environment for the children I care for.
