I have worked as a babysitter for children of all ages for twelve years. When working with children, I am a strong advocate of positive reinforcement. I believe that boundaries are important, but that it is equally vital to emphasize encouragement, praising a child for sharing or listening, and telling them what a good helper they are becoming. I am proficient in the art of pretend and imaginative games, although I am terrible at chess. I love the pure, unadulterated imagination that comes pouring out of children. Defeating a dragon by feeding it frozen apple juice and weekly tea times with some very dignified young ladies are among my fondest memories. I am committed to encouraging creativity and excellence in children in a fun way while providing an atmosphere of safety and calm.
In my spare time, I enjoy jogging around Green-Wood Cemetery, dabbling in writing, drinking buckets of tea over lively conversation with friends, and reading classic literature of the likes of E. Nesbit, C.S. Lewis, and George MacDonald.
