I will be starting my senior year of college at New York University this coming fall. I am a vocal performance major at the Steinhardt school and have a huge passion for music. Throughout college, I’ve found myself in various jobs that involve child care, and I’ve quickly fallen in love with opportunities to work with kids. I spent two summers working as a camp counselor at an arts camp in my hometown of Portland, Oregon. At the camp, I was the voice teacher and was responsible for teaching voice lessons, leading sing alongs, and putting on musicals. I worked with kids from the ages of 3-18 and because of the vast age differences in the kids I worked with, I understand the differences that children need based on their age.
I am a trained singer in classical, musical theater and jazz music. I also play the flute and the ukulele. Teaching and sharing music is a passion of mine and something I would gladly bring to any childcare situation.
Over the years, I have had many babysitting experiences both large and small. When working with and watching after children, I think it’s important to create a fun, safe environment. I have a lot of energy and enjoy playing with kids. I think babysitting should be active – it’s not about making sure the kids are staying out of trouble, but interacting with the kids in various activities! In my free time, I enjoy watching movies, going to shows, taking long strolls around the city, and making music.
