About Me

Immediately after graduating from Elon University, I moved to Houston, Texas, to commence my leadership commitment with Teach For America. Over the course of two years, I taught, mentored, and nurtured over 400 diverse children ranging from gifted and talented, Pre-AP, academic, English language learner, and special education. Through my leadership inside and outside of the classroom, I soon discovered my manifest principle of operation: pursuing, no matter the circumstance, what is in the best interest of my children. This sense of purpose stems from simply loving my children as my own. When I have my own children one day, I certainly hope that my child’s educators and leaders prioritize this principle, as well.

As Maslow’s Heirarchy of Needs explicates, a child cannot reach the pinnacle of creativity and innovation without a safe platform to do so. Consequently, I emphasize structured welcoming environments when working with any child. Communication and honesty is what I value in my interactions with my children and families, and I understand the importance of finding a caregiver who is trustworthy, meticulous to detail, and punctual. I am proficient in Korean and Spanish, and I enjoy using music as a means of authentically connecting with my children. I play the piano, love to sing, and strive to live by this quote: “Truly Blessed and Duly Grateful.” – John Bucchino
