About Me

I am a theatre maker, an art lover, and an advocate for social justice. I strive to use my own artistic enterprises in the service of bringing greater joy into people’s lives. I’ve been able to put this into practice as a teaching artist working with the Creative Arts Team to devise original theatre with middle school students, as well as in various wonderful summer camps with kids of all ages. My joy for working with young people was ignited while in college, when I was teaching theatre to 2nd graders, babysitting toddlers, and volunteering at the local women’s center. It was at that point that I began to see just how wonderfully my theatre skills could be integrated into making me a better child care provider!

My approach to working with kids is one of encouraging active engagement with a variety of arts, sports, and anything that can bring about discovery! I also strive to listen deeply to what a child needs, practice patience and understanding, and be as transparent as possible. It is important to me to maintain structure and rules in a way that allows children to develop an understanding of cause and effect and build agency within the capacity of their age. I love playing games that encourage imagination and creativity, and find it useful to use storytelling to hold focus and wind down after a day of high activity.

Some of my personal interests, aside from performing and directing theatre, include yoga at Third Root Community Health Center, volunteering at the Anti-Violence project, riding my bike in Prospect Park, and cooking meals with CSA veggies.
