About Me

Since graduating from university and moving to New York, I have been attempting to synthesize this city’s unparalleled access to cultural opportunities with the rural, nature-oriented mindset with which I grew up. Through attendance at university lectures, performance art pieces, theater performances, and film screenings, I have met fascinating people and honed my own creative voice. Additionally, I have been able to tap into the community where I live in Brooklyn through my work as a lifeguard at a local YMCA and a tutor at a nearby elementary school.

I am very patient and empathetic to others, which I believe are my two greatest strengths in childcare. Young ones can have a difficult time in understanding the individuality of others, which often leads to thoughtless conflict. I believe in addressing those situations with compassion as an opportunity for them to grow as a member of a community instead of singling them out as an aggressor. As a particularly tall person, I naturally drop down to the ground in order to be on a level with children. This physical change in perspective is an excellent representation of my process of interacting with kids; I try to see their beautiful outlooks on the way the world works. I respect children for who they are, and do not just view them as incomplete, miniature adults.

I have professional childcare experience with…

Infants, Toddlers, Pre-school aged children, Elementary school aged children, Middle school aged children, Children with special needs, Multiples
