After graduating from Brown University, I moved to New York City and applied my B.A. in Psychology to a position at a social science research institute that evaluated the impact of mainstream media on social change. During this time, I simultaneously pursued my passion for theatre arts, performing in various creative projects: friend’s plays, short films and commercials. I ultimately decided to shift my career focus to strictly acting in 2010, and I found that another very fulfilling job was child-care.
When I was growing up, my parents’ jobs required my family to move ten times before I attended college. My sister and I went through many babysitters, and in retrospect, I have come to understand the positive impact that a good sitter can have not only on a child’s development, but on his/her daily well-being. My favorite sitters were the ones who truly entered our world and engaged and inspired our creative minds and playful spirits. There is a part of me that is still that little girl who made up songs and stories and plays. The best part about working with children is having the opportunity to tap into and share these imaginative instincts. I have formed relationships with the children I care for through my love for artistic expression and through active, imaginative play and exploration. When I’m not babysitting or pursuing acting projects, I enjoy singing, going to see live music, practicing meditation and yoga, and reading books about science and cultural studies.
