About Me

Since graduating from SUNY Cortland in Early Childhood/Childhood education, I worked as an after-school teacher instructing imagination and magic tricks through story telling. I was also a personal tutor for students in the third grade to help with standardized testing. My passion for early childhood education and the interest in working with children with disabilities encouraged me to pursue a Masters degree in Early Childhood Special Education. I finished my Masters program in December 2013. During my student teacher experience I was offered a Teacher Assistant position in a general education classroom. Being in a kindergarten classroom increased my love in the field of education. As a teacher assistant I am able to gain experience by teaching writing, math and reading lessons.

I am dedicated to making learning engaging, experimental and hands-on. Children learn best through experience and discovery. I support children to be come independent thinkers, to learn to solve problems and creativity. I am also a personal tutor for a child with developmental delays, and I help create hands-on activities that are educational and fun. Even as a child I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher. Working with children has been a fulfilling and rewarding experience. I am a strong advocate for creating a love, safe and nurturing learning environment that improves critical thinking and all areas of development. The child I work with inspire me to continue to provide the best teaching practices inside and outside of the classroom.

I am passionate about integrating arts and crafts with fun learning activities. I enjoy imaginative and dramatic play as an essential tool to improve all areas of development, from social, gross motor, fine-motor, speech/language and cognitive skills. I like to use story telling as a tool to increase creativity and self-exploration. Along with teaching as my passion, I enjoy painting, baking and creating fun art activities as a form of expression.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children…

I love baking with children and creating delicious treats together. I am passionate about arts and crafts to increase creativity. Some arts and crafts include using household items to create art pieces. For example, painting and constructing rocket ships out of card board boxes. I encourage imagination, using daily items to turn into something else. A box is not just a box, but a house, rocket ship, store, kitchen and much more. I encourage integrating early literacy at home with read aloud. I am devoted to reading out loud to children to increase their appreciation and love for reading.
