About Me

All my life I have been involved in childcare and I have loved each and every moment: from babysitting my way through high school to fun filled summers as a counselor at sleep away camp. After graduating college, I chose to apply my skills as the art specialist as an after school teacher at Hoover Elementary in Palo Alto. Skilled in a variety of relevant crafts, I would teach kids to paint, draw, sculpt, and show them that learning artistic principles can be fun and engaging. I also loved sharing my passion for acting with the kids, directing them in a variety of “Shakespeare for Kids” productions. I was also asked to teach a few yoga classes to our students, as well as sharing my knowledge for healthy living and eating (I taught a few cooking classes as well!)

I have a policy of mutual respect when working with kids; I know that young people respond best when you treat them like human beings instead of pets. I find that I get more mileage as a teacher and caretaker when I develop genuine friendships with the kids. Through my years as a theatrical director, I have learned how to create a structured environment and how to enforce rules without engaging resistance or ruining the potential of having a good time. I have learned so much about art and imagination from the children that I work with: I love playing games that encourage creativity, helping with transitions, and aiding with focus and homework. Along with my art, I love running, working out, attending comedy shows, and taking place in a variety of enrichment classes throughout New York City.

I have professional childcare experience with…

Pre-school aged children, Elementary school aged children, Middle school aged children, Multiples
