About Me

My entry into babysitting happened in the usual way, when I was a teenager. Though I was only looking to make some money at the time, I discovered a passion for working with young children – a passion that has motivated my choices ever since. In addition to babysitting, I have worked as a children’s yoga teacher, a camp counselor, and an academic tutor. Currently, I am employed as an English as a Second Language teacher in the New York Public School system, where I help students build language and literacy skills with the aim of furthering self-expression. In my work with children, I encourage them to find their unique voice through storytelling, creative play, and word games. In the process, I hope to promote students’ burgeoning independence as they learn to control their own narratives.

Over the course of my teacher preparation program and my prior work experience, I have had the pleasure of interacting with young learners of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. With all children, I make an effort to craft activities that are engaging, creative, and, most importantly, allow kids to be kids. When I’m not working, you’ll find me doing yoga, reading excessively, and trying my best to take advantage of all the fabulous resources New York has to offer.

I have professional childcare experience with…

Infants, Toddlers, Pre-school aged children, Elementary school aged children, Middle school aged children, Multiples

I will be SmartSitting while…

Taking on teaching in a New York City public school.

In 5 years, I hope to be…

Still teaching (while pursuing my secret dream of writing children's books on the side)!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children…

I have a background in children's yoga, so I love leading movement-based games. I've also taught arts and crafts and theatre classes. As a teacher, I'm passionate about writing and reading, and I have lots of ideas for creative projects. I am also fluent in Spanish.
