About Me

I have been a professional teaching artist and caregiver for over 7 years in both Philadelphia, DC and Pittsburgh. For the past 5 years I have worked as a Director of Children’s Theater at Upper Darby Summer Stage in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. This company serves over 800 students each year and produces a season of seven fully staged shows.
I moved to New York three years ago to pursue my graduate degree in Directing from the Actors Studio Drama School from which I am now a recent graduate!

I am originally from Philadelphia where I grew up greatly influenced by the work of my parents who are both educators; my mother is a speech therapist and my father is now the senior consultant of a charter school in Philadelphia, which focuses on specialized education for students with learning disabilities.

As a professional Education Apprentice at Imagination Stage in DC in 2010, I am now a certified Access Educator. I have taught students 3 months to 18 years old both typically developing and students with Autism and Down Syndrome.

As a caregiver and teacher, I work towards making every experience fun, creative and inclusive. When working with children, I encourage creative play and self expression in a safe and structured environment. I try to find every opportunity for a teachable moment where children have the chance to build self esteem and self actualization. While my intention is to pursue professional jobs as a director in the city, my first love has always been education and I’m looking forward to both opportunities!

I have professional childcare experience with…

Toddlers, Pre-school aged children, Elementary school aged children, Middle school aged children, Children with special needs, Multiples

I will be SmartSitting while…

Pursuing directing and acting opportunities in New York City and regionally.

In 5 years, I hope to be…

I hope to be directing in New York and regionally as well as cultivating the beginnings of my own theater company. I also hope to be acting professionally.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children…

I love to build theatrical storytelling activities from children's literature that involve crafting, costume design, set design, writing and acting out our stories. I enjoy creating our own original stories together as well. I am happy to share simple cooking recipes and to prepare meals. I am quite comfortable assisting with homework and editing papers. I'm a good tutor and I love to assist in essay writing. I have a working knowledge of French.
