Are you fun, engaging, and mindful in your interactions with children? Do you have experience with special needs and even experience as a paraprofessional or ABA? Are you looking for a short-term position and to form a bond with a new family through the remainder of the school year?! A really lovely long-time veteran SmartFamily is looking for a new afterschool sitter to assist with their 6-year-old boy. They will help with the afternoon routine and sync up their approaches and strategies with his paraprofessional at school! Ideally you have experience with special needs or ABA, however this is not required. He has a younger sister, however the position is primarily with the boy! It's $30/hours gross for 15 hours/week. The position will be May through June!
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
Someone who has experience as a paraprofessional, ABA training, or very strong behavioral experience is ideal, but not required. A general love of kids and a mindful approach is their ideal. Someone really kind, easy going, and fun. They make a concerted effort to avoid speaking about appearance and traditional gender roles with the kids, so it's important that their new sitter be comfortable with this. Someone really bubbly, super organized, and open to jumping in and helping out where they can will truly succeed in this role!
The core schedule is Monday to Friday, from 3-6 PM. Some flexibility to assist additionally is a plus! They are happy to offer their regular SmartSitter more hours from week to week!
About the Children
boy, 6- He is a really active and fun boy. He works with a paraprofessional at his school to work on his behavior. girl, 2- She is a really sweet and kind girl. Quite a few SmartSitters have worked with the family and everyone totally adores them. They're loving, kind, sweet, and generally the best!
The SmartSitter will be primarily responsible for the oldest boy, 6. They will pick him up from school, take him to the park, playdates, and activities. They will get to know his paraprofessional he works with at school to sync up the approaches and tactics they are using with him both at school and home. They may occasionally assist with meal prep, some homework, and even helping with the younger girl. Mom is typically in and out as she runs a daycare in the same building as their home!
$24-30/hour gross, depending on expereince
