This professional and respectful UES family is looking for after school help Monday through Friday with their 12-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son. Both are super smart and fun kids. Overall they are looking for someone responsible, reliable, communicative, and detail oriented to join their team! Their last SmartSitter was with them for 1.5 years! It's $27-30/hour gross for 25-27 hours/week GUARANTEED. The position will begin in mid May!
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
The family is looking to work with someone timely and reliable, responsible, conscientious, extroverted, smart, energetic, someone who initiative, and has a strong work ethic. In an ideal world, you would have some full-time flexibility for school holidays. Ability to drive is a HUGE plus (must have clean driving record and be capable of being added to our auto policy) to drive to LIC for hockey practice once a week. Ideally someone who has had their license for at least 5 years. Spanish speaker another plus and they are currently taking it at school! Someone who is generally willing to help with home- and child-centric tasks such as shopping for kid clothes, sorting kid clothes for season, periodic decluttering of toys, laundry, etc.
3:30 pm - 7:30 pm, Monday-Thursday, and 3:30-6:30 PM on Fridays. Flexibility to cover sick days, snow days, no-school days, very occasional work conflicts. In summer, the kids are in different camps each week typically so the schedule changes and the family will communicate this in advance to the sitter. Help (on some weeks) with morning drop-off for summer camps is a plus in addition to the afternoon schedule. Overall, they are guaranteeing 25-27 hours/week or $750/week gross.
About the Children
girl 12- She is very self motivated and in honors mathematics. boy, 8- He is in second grade and doing really well academically as well. He plays hockey. He can be a bit stubborn and typically with options does best in terms of getting things done. They are both taking spanish at school! They get along quite well.
Arriving ahead of the kids who come via the bus to prep some meals if possible and meet them when they get home. Taking the kids to activities, planning playdates, and helping with homework. There is no heavy cooking or meal prep required, but if you like to cook that would be great; some skills in the kitchen are required. If interested, they are happy to have someone come midday to walk their dog, too. Assistance in the morning with drop offs to camp and school are a huge plus on occasion!
