This super sweet Chelsea family is looking for a new after-school sitter to work with their two lovely children, ages 7 and 9! The eldest has bone cancer and is in a wheelchair, so they need somebody who is going to treat him well and like a regular kid! Please apply if you think you'd be the perfect fit for this family!
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
This family has worked with nannies for a long time! They’re looking for someone who is caring, nurturing, and responsible. A good communicator is a must! Someone who can help out with homework and enjoys school-aged kids. The two kids are very different, so it can be a balancing act to give them both attention. Someone who is good with boundaries and creative problem solving, can find ways to motivate a kid who will occasionally say no to doing PT or school work, who is warm and encouraging while being firm when needed. On top of that, s/he needs to be comfortable with the type of homework given to 2nd/4th graders in gifted and talented programs. Someone who can be sensitive to the boy’s stubbornness - having fought a major illness, he’s still managing some emotions. It can be disconcerting - You have to be okay with a kid that doesn’t look like a regular kid.
Monday-Friday, 2:30-6:30pm Plus flexibility to stay later with notice!
About the Children
boy, 9: Cancer survivor (in a wheelchair, uses crutches) Completing treatment in August. Ongoing doctors appointments. Extremely bright! girl, 7: goes to G&T school! Loves her brother. Very fun and entertaining.
The typical after-school routine will vary slightly. They’ll have activities on some days. Then you’ll pick them up from the bus stop. Bringing them home and giving them a healthy snack. Sometimes there might be piano or voice lessons at home. Then it’ll be time for homework! The kids are allowed some screen time. They also love to read, draw, and play board games. Then dinner will be something easy - heating up chicken tenders, for example!
through the 2019-2020 school year, and potentially longer!
