A returning family who recently moved to Forest Hills (Queens) is looking for their next SmartSitter to bond with the kids! They are ideally looking for someone kind, responsible, confident, and a true role model for the kids. They are looking for someone amazing to join their team and to start in mid-August! The core schedule is Monday to Friday, from 2-7/7:30 PM, with flexibility to stay later for date nights or even if the train is running behind a bit. They are happy to guarantee 25 hours/week and offer a monthly metrocard. The position will begin in mid-August with interviews taking place immediately.
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
Someone who can be a role model for the kids to be confident and empathetic enough to share their lives with the SmartSitter after school. Someone who can engage the kids (especially the girl) with the challenges that come with being a growing woman. Engaging them in creative and fun stuff when homework is done (no screens). Someone who has the aptitude to get to know the kids and really bond with them so they are excited to come home and have those conversations with them. Someone who is strong in their homework help as they go to a really academic help. They go to a really academic public school, so someone who can keep them motivated and focused on their school work.
The core schedule is Monday to Friday, from 2-7/7:30 PM, with flexibility to stay later for date nights or even if the train is running behind a bit. Guaranteed 25 hours/week, with the opportunity to work more for evenings and school holidays, etc.
About the Children
girl, 8- She is going into third grade. She is very bright, present, and mature girl. She is very organized. She is pretty independent and happy to read and color. boy, 5- She is going into first grade and is a bit younger for his grade. He is a total sweetheart. He really likes sports and if he could just run around for hours he would be so happy. He loves to throw a baseball and be athletic. His ramp up in homework might be more challenging for him at first. The kids' happy places are different; reading v. playing sports.
Arriving early on occasion to help with meal prep and the kids' laundry or even tidying up from breakfast. Then, picking up the kids from school and managing schedules, taking them to activities and playdates, and then home.
$25-30/hour gross + monthly metrocard
