The Ideal Sitter for this Job
The family is looking for someone who is college-educated, smart, energetic, entrepreneurial, enthusiastic, and willing to jump in and help out as needed. #yestomannies Flexibility is paramount for this position. The parents sometimes travel for work at the same time 1-2 times/month, so their SmartSitter stays for the few days with the kids and has full care of them while mom and dad are away. The hours might vary from time to time. They are paying a full-time salary to ensure they have coverage when they need it. Driving is a huge plus!

About the Children
boy, age 8 - He will be going into 1st grade. He likes sports (soccer, swimming, karate), legos, chess, reading, history, and many other things. He is energetic and also sweet, and is enthusiastic about pretty much any potential activity. He's doing after school soccer once/week and has some other after school activities. One day/week he'll be free and enjoys going on little adventures (ex: the intrepid, a playdate, Dave & Busters). His school ends at 3 PM and he finishes at 4 or 5 PM some days depending on the after school activity. He also enjoys art projects and he really loves all the babysitters he's ever known. girl, age 15 - She lives at home about half the time (at her dad's the other half). She's very independent and travels by herself and also enjoys cooking. She loves food. She rides horses on the weekend. She was into Hamilton, but that phase has recently ended. She is a teenager and going through some typical teenage growing pains. She's into music, musicals, and snapchat.
Occasionally arrive between 7:30-8 AM, but likely just a few times/month. Help prepare breakfast if needed, help the little 8-year-old boy get dressed and ready for school, and take him to school 3-4 days/week on the Upper West Side. While he's in school (8:30 AM - 3/4/5 PM depending on the day), there are limited responsibilities and you'll typically have this time off. The family will need help with grocery shopping once per week, an occasional errand, picking up a package, and other - also very occasional - personal assistant responsibilities, such as planning travel (which you may or may not join depending on the trip) and cocktail parties or events. If a candidate is willing to drive the family's Land Rover to the city for drop off to the UWS that would be great! After-school, pick up the 8-year-old from school and take him to activities depending on the day. Come home and help prepare dinner (usually for him, once/week it may be for the parents too). If you enjoy cooking, this is a plus! The cooking is basic (Chicken and pasta for the family is a-ok. He loves mac n' cheese and the parents are trying to introduce him to other foods too). Occasionally stay late if parents are both out in the evening. The family has a 15-year-old daughter who lives with them about half the time. She really enjoys cooking and so there will be little if any responsibilities related to her care.
