A wonderful returning family on the UES is looking for a new role model and pal for their 12-year-old son! They are looking for someone who can spend 3 afternoons with him after school to help and encourage him to be more independent, and also responsible with his homework. The new SmartSitter will be his confidant and supporter! This is more a role model/mentor type situation rather than a babysitter. If you have interests similar to his, that's great, or if you have something new to teach him, that's awesome as well! Apply now if you think you'd be great for this role!
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
He doesn’t really need a sitter anymore, but the family would like an older role model for him to spend time with a few times a week. The family is really looking for a mentor-type role model for their son. Chatting about his social relationships and his friends to be a confidant for him is paramount, too. Someone who can engage with him in his interests and spend quality time with him! If the sitter is available on Friday afternoons occasionally, that would be a bonus.
Monday & Tuesday 3:15-6:15pm, Thursday 3:15-6:45pm Potentially some evenings or Friday afternoons a few times a month!
About the Children
Boy, 12: Enthusiastic about reading, theater, music, and conversation. He’s super chatty and easy-going! He likes to run and used to do cross-country at school. He’s also into improv and acting!
Their son's homework load varies so there may be some homework help involved after school, but he usually tries to get most of it done during school. While he is doing his homework, they want someone who can model the good behavior for him like reading a good book and NOT on your phone. They'd love for the sitter/role model to do something active and engaging with him during their time together. The son used to be into cross country running, so that could be an idea. Central Park is a few blocks away! Once home, no video games or TV, but maybe a board game instead!
