Do you have experience and enjoy working with 1 and 4 year-olds? Are you close to Prospect Heights? This SmartFamily is looking for a loving, artistic, and experienced full-time nanny to care for their daughters starting this fall. The ideal candidate is a balance of engaging and calm, comfortable navigating challenges with patience, and is willing to help with light housework. They prefer someone who is in walking or biking distance from Prospect Heights, or would be open to live-in (they have a garden level apartment for their sitter, if they want it). It's $25-27/hour gross for 40-44 hours/week guaranteed. The position will begin this fall with flexibility, with interviews taking place now. Apply today!
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
The family is looking for someone who has experience with these age groups and can manage their differing needs. Someone super engaging who can also go with the flow, staying calm and patient in the face challenges is a must. The ideal sitter also has a really positive and bright disposition. Someone who can be proactive to help with light household tasks if the kids are down or occupied. Someone who has the right balance of being confident and engaging, while being loving and patient - someone who is grounded and mature -- and who can drive! Driving is required (their car) for either here in the city to pick the older girl up and drop her off at school or when away. If they go to Martha's Vineyard again to shelter in place, they would want their sitter to go with them and live in during the week. They can bring someone back when they want to come home. Someone comfortable potentially going to Martha's Vineyard with them if there is another shelter in place is a huge plus!
The core schedule is Monday to Friday, 830/9 AM to 530/6 PM. They are happy to guarantee 40 hours/week.
About the Children
girl, 4- She's in school in Brooklyn Heights and supposed to go back. She is very strong-willed and high energy. She is really bright and quick. She has tantrums at times and is also super sweet, but she is really a feisty young kid. girl, 1- She is super intrigued by her sister and loves to hang out with her. She is mellower than her sister. She naps for 2 hours everyday.
Responsibilities will vary depending on what schools decide to do for the year. The older girl may be in school part-time or full-time, so there may be some help with drop off and pick up via the family's car. If she is in school, they will have small pods and safety protocols in place. At the moment, the family wants to avoid playgrounds with the kids, though are happy to have the kids at the park playing while distanced from others. The sitter may also be expected to help with some light household tasks like tidying up the kitchen, helping with meal prep, the kids' laundry, and keeping the home in order and tidy as needed.
The family had been in Martha's Vineyard since mid-March and returned to the city the first part of September. They always wear masks when out in the public and keep a distance. They don't have preexisting conditions, so there is some flexibility with socializing at a distance with masks. They are hoping to have open and transparent conversations with their nanny about what they are all doing. If there is a second wave, they may go back to Martha's Vineyard and would want the sitter to join, but they can bring them back and forth for time off in the city! To minimize exposure risk, ideally, the nanny and any people they live with aren't taking subways or going into offices. The family prefers someone who lives nearby and can walk or cycle, or they have a separate apartment the sitter could live in if they wanted. If they are in Martha's Vineyard, they sitter would have their own room on a floor in the house. They are such a lovely family!
