The Ideal Sitter for this Job
Someone that has experience teaching or leading group activities, either in a camp or after school setting. Someone interested in a regular, afternoon position weekdays at least through December. If you are interested in possibly adding more dates in 2021, that's great but not required. Someone who takes appropriate precautions for COVID such as wearing face coverings and/or face shields, washing hands, sanitizing, and acting in accordance with CDC guidelines to limit exposure and risk. Someone who is excited to lesson plan, has lots of different activities they can do and share with children, and enjoys the group setting. Someone who is great communication skills, can deal with sometimes demanding parents kindly and professionally, and someone who is upbeat, positive, and always wears a smile!
Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM through 12/18/20.
About the Children
Groups of 4 kids, pre-registered. You will know your groups and develop a relationship with the children. The groups will be organized by age so that lessons can be catered to slightly younger and slightly older groups. Groups will be 5-8 years old and 8+ years old.
Planning: brainstorming, planning, and creating a 4-week syllabus and activity schedule, working with the SmartSitting team to finalize the schedule and activities on a weekly basis, providing amazon lists for materials and quantities needed so that all activities are ready to go as scheduled. The activities would be consistent and mapped out via syllabus, but would ideally touch upon multidisciplinary items. In-Person Activity Guiding: 2:30-6:30pm, M-F at Nexus Club, working through the day's activity with 3 different groups, 45 mins per group. Groups would be split out by age (5-8 years old and 8+ years old). The initial 4 weeks will be a test run and with the possibility that the program will be extended through December. There is a week off for Thanksgiving. If the roles are filled by two people, there will be 20 hours of in-person per week and a 2 hours remote planning allotment per week per person.
We strongly prefer to work with as few instructors as possible who are available for the entire schedule, but we may be able to work around existing commitments with enough notice.
