Looking to spend your afternoons with a creative and playful first grader? Have experience with school aged kiddos? This SmartFamily on the UES is looking for an engaging and imaginative nanny for their 6-year-old son, the eldest of three boys. He is a ball of energy who also loves to make-believe and dive into new and fascinating topics (his current obsession is chess!). The nanny will be responsible mostly for the older boy, picking him up from school and walking him home (about 10-15 minutes), helping with any homework, and playing with him (and sometimes his younger brother, 3) until mom and dad get off work at 6:30 PM. The ideal nanny for this role is someone full of creative energy, who loves world building and imaginative play, who can also run around outside, and balance the fun with boundary-setting and light discipline. Some experience with preschool-aged kids is a huge plus for those one-off moments. The family is being careful with COVID, wearing masks anytime they're outside/in school, and would like a nanny following similar guidelines. They are okay with someone who needs to take public transportation. Rate for this job is $25-30/hour for 22 hours/week guaranteed. This position is set to start in March, with interviews beginning as soon as next week. Apply today!
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
The family is looking for someone active and playful, who is up to be outside and run around as weather permits. Someone caring, who knows how to engage and entertain school-aged kids, but also is not afraid to keep them in line when needed. The boy loves imaginative play, so a great way to wrangle him is to create a world and dive into it! He also loves to learn and is very curious, so being able to connect with him and find something to capture his mind. He is currently obsessed with chess, so someone who is good at chess would be a fun bonus!
Starting in March, the core schedule for this position is Monday to Thursday, 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM, with Fridays starting at 12:30 PM. The family is happy to guarantee 22 hours/week. They will be out of the city from mid/end of June through end of August, and would love to start back up in the fall is the nanny is still available.
About the Children
boy, 6 - The eldest of three active and rambunctious boys. He's a very smart kid, is super creative, and LOVES imaginative play. He's also super curious, and wants to dive into random topics to learn as much as he can about them (his current obsession is chess!). boy, 3 boy, 4 months
The main responsibility for this role is the oldest boy. This will start with school pick up at 2:30 PM (12:30 PM on Fridays) on the UES, about 10-15 minutes away from the house. The nanny will then bring him to the playground or home, depending on weather, and hang out with him, overseeing homework and playtime, until 6:30 PM when the parents are done with work. The middle boy LOVES to play with his older brother, so there may also be light care/supervision of them together on occasion. The family has another full time nanny that focuses on the younger two boys and also handles meal prep, so those responsibilities would be covered.
The family is being cautious with COVID, wearing masks anytime they're in public and following guidelines. They do have a housekeeper that comes on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, and all adults in the house wear masks during this time. They older boys both wear masks while in school, and the family's social bubble is only close family in the city. They are looking for a nanny who is taking similar precautions, following guidelines, and is willing to get tested if the need arises. They are open to someone who takes public transportation, and are willing to pay for a metrocard.
