A lovely veteran family on the UES is in need of a new nanny for the remainder of the current school year to assist their 5-year-old with his virtual learning 2-3 days/week when he is home from school. They are looking for someone who can make the learning fun for him and keep him engaged and happy throughout the spring! Their ideal candidates is also someone super reliable, fun, responsible, organized, communicative, and energetic to keep up with the two boys. It's $25/hour gross for 25-30 hours/week guaranteed! The exact schedule is dependent on the older boy's school schedule, though it typically is Tuesday and Wednesday at home with one additional half or full day/week. Someone who is creative and good with kids who can help with his school work, but also help to expand his mind and creativity with fun activities. Making learning fun. Someone active and fun. Someone really responsible, organized, communicative, and open with mom and dad, particularly about their Covid practice. Someone who can reinforce the oldest boy's speech therapy. They usually take the youngest into his room for play when the speech therapist is in the living room with the oldest. Someone really creative who can come up with fun games and activities. Someone really active who can keep up with the boys and wants to bond with them. Someone musical is plus! Teaching or virtual learning experience is preferable, though not required.
The core schedule is 2-3 days/week, from 8-6 PM, and one afternoon from 12-6 PM (exact days dependent on his school schedule. Flexibility to assist more if school closes is a plus, too. They are happy to guarantee 25-30/hours week!
About the Children
Boy, 5- He is in two days/week in public school and typically three days at home. If there is an exposure, they close school all together. He is the youngest in his class and skipped pre-k. He is in speech therapy and has a former teacher come in once/week to help push him forward academically. She has a bond with him as being his old teacher and this has proved to help them so much. Boy, 3- He is in school from 9-12 PM, and home in the afternoons. He naps after lunch for a few hours. Mom and dad usually pick him up from school.
Assisting the oldest boy with his remote learning on the days he is home. The school is providing the material. He is pretty good about focusing and getting things done, though they want someone who can make it fun for him and really engage with him while he's learning. In the afternoons, taking him to his activities at Central park or helping with his online extracurricular classes with his old classmates.
Regarding Covid, the boys are in school, though mom and dad work from home. They are a pod with three families from one of the youngest boy's school and they have a Friday soccer group and will have a Wednesday group who will start to meet up outside when the weather is better. These are the only people they see outside of their home. They wear masks and otherwise socially distance. They are ok with their person taking public transportation and they are happy to offer n95 masks to their person for their use.
