This really sweet UWS family is looking for a new after school babysitter to help with the two boys, 7 and 9! They are really sweet kids and while they have the typical sibling dynamic that young ones can, they are both pretty active and fun. They are looking for someone dynamic, active, and fun who can split their attention between the two and give them equal amounts attention and care while together so they both feel loved and looked after. This family is really kind and thoughtful. They are hoping to build a bond with their new person after their long-time nanny left to start their own family! They've been through a lot the past few years, so someone sensitive to their situation and understanding will be best! It's $25-30/hour gross for 22.5-25/hours/week guaranteed! The Ideal Sitter for this Job
They are looking for someone to pick up the boys from school, take to activities, help with homework and stay until around 7 PM daily. Someone sensitive to the family situation and able to stimulate and manage two energetic and intelligent boys. Someone bright and engaging who is really invested in their relationship with the boys. Someone who can bake or cook with them would be great. Someone who isn't too pushy about activities with the boys, especially the oldest, is best as he responds best to taking the lead a bit more. Someone who can align with them in dad's parenting style (treats on Fridays only, wearing masks properly, limited screen time, etc.) which is super clear and he is very communicative. Someone who can maintain the boundaries around screen time is most ideal. Someone who can really engage with them without screens and be really creative with their time together. They have the typical sibling arguments, so someone who can navigate those situations and understands it isn't about them and not directed at them. Someone warm, kind, and patient with them, especially at the beginning while they get used to the new person in their lives.
The core schedule is Monday to Friday, from 2/230 to 7 PM. Some flexibility to help additionally is a plus! They are happy to guarantee 22.5-25 hours/week. They typically go away for a month or so in the summer and would pay half during that time as a retainer for the first year with a discussion to up that in the year after! They are happy to offer PTO and other fringe benefits as well TBD upon hire.
About the Children
boy, 9- He does ballet at ABT (currently on zoom). He is a really flexible and bendy guy! He loves to read and learn about everything. He is a bit quieter and likes one on one time to have conversations. He may have his guard up at the start. He really likes to cook and loves to come up with ideas of things to bake. He does best when he takes the reins with activities or when he believes it is his idea. boy, 7- He really likes soccer. He's started to love reading more and more this year, too! He is more social and outgoing than his brother. They are super energetic and smart boys! Both play flag football on weekends and love to ride their bikes. They play tennis. They like screen time, but dad limits it to 5 PM daily when dinner is being prepared.
Walking home after pick up (about 20 minutes) with the boys. Giving them a snack, helping with some homework, spending time outside running around or doing fun activities at home. Helping with some meal prep and tidying up after is much appreciated, but not always required. The family is really looking for someone who can make sure the boys are happy, healthy, safe, and having a great time!
They are strict about mask wearing. Dad has his first vaccine. Someone who is vaccinated or wants to be. They follow all CDC guidelines and are keeping strict practices with mask wearing, hand washing, social distancing, and the like.
