Have experience with school-aged kids? Looking for a part-time after-school position through the year, with potential to extend? This could be the job for you! A family in Midtown is looking for an engaging, warm, and compassionate nanny for their 5.5-year-old daughter. She is currently in kindergarten, and they are looking for someone who can help with school pick-up, any homework, some fun activities to limit screen time, dinner help, and then through her nighttime routine. The family would also appreciate some assistance with light cooking and cleaning as time allows. They are looking for candidates who have experience with homework help and/or tutoring, and who can come up with good, stimulating activities for the girl. Someone who can build up her confidence and help her as she grows! The family is being very COVID-safe, and would like a nanny who is taking similar precautions. They are fine with public transportation, as long as the nanny brings a change of clothes for once they arrive, and would also like whoever they hire to wear a mask for the first week or so while everyone gets to know each other. Both parents are vaccinated, and they are looking for someone who is at least in the midst of the vaccination process, so please include a few sentences about COVID practices and vaccine status in the "Additional Information" section of your application. Rate for this job is $25/hour gross for 20 hours/week guaranteed. The role will start as soon as they find the right fit, with interviews to begin ASAP. Apply today!
The Ideal Sitter for this Job
The ideal candidate for this family is someone who’s engaging and attentive to the girl, who can be a confidant and help build her confidence and continue with her development. Someone warm, playful, kind and generous. The family is hoping for a little more academic than play focus, so someone who has experience working with kids on homework and coming up with good brain activities. Elementary school experience would be amazing, but is not required.
The core schedule is Monday to Friday, 2:30 to 6:30 PM. The family is happy to guarantee 20 hours/week. This summer, they're still deciding if they want to send her to camp, but are leaning toward no, so they may have need for more hours then.
About the Children
girl, 5.5 - She's a very bubbly girl. She loves reading, projects and puzzles. She also really enjoys boardgames and imaginative play. She does play soccer once a week in person. She's in kindergarten and is getting into reading and doing a bit of math.
The main responsibilities for this role are pick up from school, bringing the girl home, helping with any homework, playing games and reading books (the family is trying to limit screen time), helping with dinner (the parents will have prepped, so it would just be heating it up), and then bath and bed routine. They would also love some support with light cooking and cleaning.
The family has been pretty cautious with COVID, and Mom and Dad will both be fully vaccinated by the end of April. The girl has been testing consistently for the whole year with school, and they have a limited circle and are continuing to follow guidelines. They are looking for someone who is also being careful, who is vaccinated, or at least in the process of getting vaccinated. They are okay with public transit, as long as their nanny brings a change of clothes for when they arrive. If the nanny is picking up the girl however, the family will reimburse for an uber. As things open back up, they family may put her on the school bus. They also want their nanny to wear a mask for the first week or so (the family would as well) while everyone gets comfortable with each other.
At least through the end of the year, with potential to extend
