Warm, energetic, loves and is comfortable with babies, present/engaged. The apartment has 3 small sets of stairs leading to it (not totaling even one flight of stairs) that makes coming and going with a stroller a bit awkward (and a test of arm strength!), so someone who is physically comfortable doing that is important. Ready to take on adventures and explorations! #yestomannies
Mondays, 2 PM - 5:45 PM
Wednesdays, 1:30 PM - 5:45 PM
Mom is a freelance musician and dad has a 9-5 job, so there will definitely be other irregular days occasionally when they would love additional help if you happen to be free. Mom will travel occasionally for work (three times this semester) and take the little girl with me. Holidays and other public school days off the family may not need the help.
We've worked with this Red Hook family before and they are very kind, cool, fast paced, and they're juggling lots of things. Mom owns the building where her apartment is, so there is some building management there (other tenants etc.) and she is in the music business and runs large scale concerts. The daughter is nearly 11 and she is very warm, snuggly, and loving. She loves music, piano, and sewing. The position is full-time, 40 hours/week, and there is some flexibility. The core hours are Monday through Friday, 3 PM - 8 PM, plus about 15 hours/week where you can work on your own schedule most of the time. The position is part after school nanny and part family and business assistant. The rate is $21-24/hour, $45,000-50,000/year.
strong in academics and can help with homework, super self aware, someones smart, a “person of the world”, someone who can play with her and make things with her, and challenge her towards doing her best, someone who is comfortable jumping in with random PA responsibilities
The core hours are Monday through Friday, 3 PM - 8 PM. There will be about 15 additional hours per week (40 hours/week total), and you will have some flexibility about when you work these additional hours.
The family may need weekend hours occasionally. If you are busy, you can feel free to say no!
$25/hour (40-50 hours/week)
This professional, kind, and flexible SoHo family is looking for an energetic, engaging SmartSitter for their 2 1/2-year-old boy. The general schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM - 6 PM (two hours off for lunch) and maybe once/week the schedule will shift to 11 AM - 8 PM. Mom works from home and goes on appointments/meetings as needed, so she has some flexibility with the working schedule. The rate is $25/hour and it's generally 40 working hours per week. Ideally the family would prefer to pay for 40 working hours/week at $25/hour ($1000/week) however they are flexible to pay up to 50 hours/week if needed.
The family is looking for someone who has experience with toddlers, a high level of energy, and willingness to be active and goofy. They are looking for someone whoe likes art, music, getting down on the floor, and/or running around the playground. The person needs to guide him to be independent, but pays very close attention for safety! A degree in early childhood development is a plus. Someone who is fluent in Spanish is a plus. They are looking for someone who is an active and healthy person and someone who cooks and enjoys eating healthfully. They are a junk-free family, who has treats on occasions.
The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 6 PM (possibly one day/week will be 11 AM - 8 PM).
You will have typically two hours per day off while the little boy is in school. If you are flexible for this time to be unpaid (10 hours/week), this a plus. If not, the family is flexible.

This is a chance to work with a wonderful, loving, warm Waldorf family in Chelsea, Sunday through Thursday, 12 PM - 8 PM, and travel with the family to the Bahamas and on other fun trips. The family has an 8-year-old girl, 5-year-old boy, and 1 1/2-year-old girl, and there's lots of help so you'll never really be with all three children at once. All the cooking is from scratch (no packaged foods) and there's a chef who makes all the sauces for the week, so it's a lot of prep and then adding sauces. There will be lots of art projects and creativity in this position and it's also important that you are happy to work in a big loving family environment. The income is $29/hour gross, about $60,000/year, plus lots of benefits (benefits value is $31,039/year). The family is currently in Maine, so initial meetings will be via phone, Skype, or FaceTime, and then there may be a trial in Maine. Please apply today if you're interested!
A happy, kind, joyful, organized person who appreciates nature, art, music and can run around with boys — a team player who cares about the children. The family has a nanny now who has a degree as a teacher and their previous nanny who was with them for five years got her degree while working for them. If you have a teaching or education background, this is a plus but not a requirement.
Aside from not minding to travel and knowing every other year you would spend Christmas in the Bahamas, a love and appreciation of nature is important as the family is outdoors a lot. Since there are two nannies you would be asked only once a year to travel up to 12 days at a time. These days are 8 to 9 hour work days with breaks. The family asks for one night every two months during the week. Once a year mom and dad travel for four days. At that time both nannies and the cleaning person help out in the home plus they hire additional help so no one is ever alone with all three kids.
If you have any background in Waldorf, this is a huge plus! Also, a love of cooking from scratch is a huge plus. They make lots of muffins, make their own granola bars, everything is from scratch and their are no packaged foods. The family is happy to help teach you about cooking too!
The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 12 PM - 8 PM (often you will be able to go home a bit earlier, however you will always be compensated $1,163.02/week gross).
The family travels often and they will need help taking turns between you and the other nanny in traveling with them. They will need help during holidays every other year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.). You will also have approximately 8 weeks off per year paid. During travel, you will be compensated $350/day.
