As early as I could remember I have always wanted to work with children. When asked as a little girl what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say a pediatrician because I loved babies. Nothing much has changed all these years later: I have committed my life to working with children and I still love babies. Wherever I go, children tend to gravitate towards me and my family and friends say it is because I radiate a very trusting and welcoming energy. I continue to bring a trustworthy and caring attitude with every child and family I encounter.
Most of my experience has been with infants and toddlers because I find how fast they develop and learn fascinating. As they grow you learn and experience things differently with each child you encounter. I love their little personalities; how sure they are in their decision making and how strongly they believe in themselves. I love to teach children how to express themselves in different ways. I especially value reading and push children to read a book everyday as it is easy to get lost in the technology of today. Due to my degree in culinary arts I can teach them how to make healthy choices when it comes to meal times and I am known for my dance breaks during a rough day. Since college I was fortunate to work at a day care whose education philosophy was similar to my own. I believe that by providing children a safe and nurturing environment for them to learn and grow they will grow into responsible and caring adults.
