I have always enjoyed being around little kids. They seem to emit a certain joy! I love learning from them and teaching them while they grow. Over the course of my life I was always surrounded by children; from my family to employers. I enjoy learning from them and teaching them how to read, write, do crafts, and do art. I even tutored children for two summers.
My love for kids led me to pursue a Masters degree in Psychology where I did extensive early development childhood courses. This proved to be an asset in further understanding and communicating with infants and children.
I find that each age group offers different challenges but overall, the rewards to me are always the same - a feeling of joy and accomplishment that I helped to care for and teach a child and contributed to his or her educational, psychological (mental) and physical growth. I am always amazed at the way infants, toddlers and young kids interact and learn.
My hobbies include art, crafts, photography and reading and I find that this comes in handy when communicating with kids. There is a certain pride and happiness in a child's eyes from making a piece of art, placing toppings on an uncooked pizza, or decorating a cupcake. Even from potty training - kids feel a sense of independence.
I know that working with children is something I will always be interested in doing. Nothing compares to those sweet smiles, first steps, first words, addictive bursts of laughter, and that pouty expression when they don't always have their way. I look forward to being an asset to any family that I am employed with.
