About me

Hi there! My name is Jennifer but most people call me Jennie. I've been babysitting for a very long time now and I've always loved working with kids. I can still remember when I was young, around 9 or 10, and neighbors with younger kids asking my parents when I'd be able to babysit for them.

Working with kids has always been something I love to do. With my mom being a teacher and bringing me into classes to help out or teach something fun, I've always felt at ease around kids.

I'm very passionate about music and acting so when I'm babysitting, I tend to sing to kids as well as play lots of make believe with them. I once had to sing Let It Go about 8 times for a little girl who was in love with Frozen. Even though my throat hurt a lot afterwards, the giggles and smile on her face was definitely worth it.

When it comes to working with different families and children, I've always believed that going by what the parents want for their kids is the best way to do a good job. Communication is very important to me, so being able to talk to a parent and ask them what they want for their children has always felt like the first priority when it comes to babysitting. I would never do something with a child or children if the parent did not approve it. I will always ask, (usually through text or call) but until I get approval I'll make sure we don't stray from what the parents want for their children.

I've loved working with kids and babysitting them for as long as I can remember. I always want kids to look forward to me coming rather than hanging onto their parents before they leave. Seeing them smile and making them laugh makes me feel like I'm really helping to make positive experiences and memories in a child's life.

I will be SmartSitting while...

Playing guitar and singing, doing yoga, or auditioning! I've always really loved music and it's my favorite way to express myself. I've also found that yoga helps me not only to keep myself healthy but it keeps me focused and clears my head. I'm also usually out auditioning for whatever I can to try to build my career as an actress. I really love to do things that inspire me to reach my goals so I try to make that an integral part of my everyday life.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope to be a working actress/singer in either NYC or LA working in film, television or live plays/musicals! It's always been my dream to pursue acting and I truly believe that if you have enough determination, skills, and the drive to do something then you can absolutely achieve it.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love introducing children to music, singing, dancing, as well as a little bit of yoga! I've played guitar and piano for about 10 years now and I love sharing that with the kids I babysit. I've also found that just listening to music and dancing around can be really fun for the kids and help them to feel more comfortable in their bodies and feel more at home with me as their babysitter. Lastly, a lot of younger kids LOVE yoga! There have been multiple times where I've taught the kids how to do little poses from yoga and they've always had fun and giggled their way through it.
