As a young girl I had always loved playing "house" independently or with my older sister, so it is clear to say caring for children has been a life long love for me. I genuinely love children and being able to be connect with numerous families and to be given their utmost trust is an honor. Babysitting has driven me to my calling; being a teacher for early childhood education.
Aside from babysitting, I study at Lehman College. I like to spend time volunteering at an elementary school close by home. This has helped me use what I am studying in school as my background knowledge for what I observe in the classroom. Being able to see the developmental growth within children, whether it is in the classroom or through the children I babysit, is what drives me to keep doing what I do. I have had the pleasure of working with children in all stages of childhood. This, along with my knowledge in early childhood education, comes hand in hand. Babysitting strengthens my skills which will follow me throughout my career path.
Working for different families exposes you to different styles of life which make you more cultured and well rounded. I have had to learn different styles of cooking whether it is vegetarian, kosher or vegan. When it comes to babysitting I like to see it as more than just a job, but a good past time. I enjoy spending time with children as they are full of surprises. They truly make any day a better day.
For as long as I remember, I have always been told how loving, helpful and hardworking I am. I can describe myself as being a very dependable, trustworthy, patient, caring and nurturing person. I think it's important to provide children with a fun, fulfilling and enriched environment. I enjoy incorporating arts and crafts to keep the kids entertained. Babysitting, and the families I have had the pleasure of working for, will forever be something I am thankful to do as it has truly changed my life.
