Actor by day… Super Hero by night! I was born and raised in chilly Buffalo, New York. As an actor, I trained at Howard University under Emmy winner Al Freeman Jr. and at The British American Drama Academy with John Barton and Fiona Shaw. My performance experiences have taken me all over the country preforming in everything from children’s shows to Shakespeare. I have enjoyed working on the stages of the Kennedy Center and along side such luminaries as Lynn Whitfield.
As an educator, I have worked as a teaching artist with Young Playwrights Theatre, Virginia Stage Company and The Duke Ellington School for the arts. Most recently, I have been in residence at Success Academy Charter Schools as a full time Specialist teacher. There I designed and implemented comprehensive, daily drama curriculum for 4th-8th grades with an emphasis on physical, vocal, and emotional awareness and introduction to playwriting and acting. My experiences as a teaching artist has placed me in contact with a diverse population of differently abled kids including those on the autism spectrum.
I have over 7 years of childcare experience working with children ranging from infants to teens. I am an affectionate and lively caregiver who infuses passion into all that I do. A true "no nonsense nurturer," I am able to have fun with kids while maintaining a sense of authority and safety. I started as a full-time nanny in 2010 caring for 2 girls (5 months and 10 years old) on a daily basis. I cared for the infant during the day while her sister was at school. In the afternoon, I picked up the eldest child and cared for both girls until their parents arrived home. My duties included bottle feeding, diaper changing, meal prep, light household cleaning, and shopping. I also acted as live in care giver while parents were on vacation and business trips.
After relocating to New York, I continued my work in childcare providing services through babysitting agencies. I worked with many different families as a date night sitter and after school babysitter on a regular basis. During the day, I continued to care for infants and toddlers (5 months - 3years). I prepared bottles, changed diapers, prepared snacks, helped to create/maintain sleep schedule and engaged children in imaginative play. In the afternoon and evenings, I worked with school aged children (6 -16 years). My duties included picking up children from school, transporting them to extracurricular activities, preparing dinner/snacks consistent with dietary concerns, supervising homework and instrument practice and enforcing bedtime routines. I was also a regular attendant at Soho House' kids club "Teeny House" on weekends. I create a safe and fun environment while supervising children ages 3-13 years in the clubs playroom and cinema.
