About me

Hello! My name is Kristin. I am a Teaching and Performing Artist in New York City, where I specialize in Music Education and Acting Shakespeare. I am also a pianist and compose and arrange original music for vocal ensembles, and have been enthusiastically teaching students all sorts of music for over fifteen years.

Due to my extensive classroom experience, I feel very comfortable managing groups of children; and I am particularly skilled working with Kindergarten and First Graders, though I have worked with children as young as 3 and as old as 18.

I am a very passionate person, and love to engage children in creative play within a structured environment. I believe in reinforcing compassion, empathy, and respect, while still maintaining an outlet for creative and emotional energy. And, having been a teacher, I also love to watch children learn new things as well as watch their passions grow. It can start with an episode of The Magic School Bus, even!--but I've seen something that small foster an innate fondness of science in children who would grow up to become future scientists!

I ride my bike absolutely everywhere unless the weather prohibits me from doing so. I love reading and learning new things. I remain open-minded at all times and encourage kids to do the same. And of course, I respect any schedule, structure, or wishes of families to maintain the environment they wish for their child[ren] to grow up in.

(*I also am very sensitive to anyone in the environment with dietary restrictions and/or food allergies, as I have first-hand experience in handling food and taking necessary precautions.)

I have professional child care experience with...

  • Toddlers
  • Preschoolers
  • School-aged (K-5)
  • Preteen
  • Teenagers
  • Multiples

I will be SmartSitting while...

Playing piano or drums or ukulele, acting in a Shakespeare play, teaching music, riding my bike, or enjoying sushi.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope to still be working with children in some capacity, whether as a teacher or care provider. I also understand that we cannot control where the chips fall in life sometimes; and so I find it very necessary to take life as it comes, as we never know what hiccups may occur.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I am happy to share music and especially rhythm with children! I will always have children join me in reading, painting or drawing, and even dancing--but ultimately, I love learning, and hope to share my passion for learning with the children that I interact with each day.
