About me
Hi! My name is Rachel. I am from the midwest, originally, and I love kids. My background is in theater, so my approach to childcare is very creative, active, and imaginative. I've worked mostly with school age kids, up to about 13. If you hire me as your childcare provider, your kids will be played with in an engaging and safe way - not a lot of screens or gadgets.
Hobbies of mine include any excuse to get outside; jogging, hiking, biking, swimming. Because of that, a lot of the time I have taken kids to local parks, swimming pools, libraries, etc. for afternoon playtime activities. I've found getting kids outside or into public environments in a safe way cultivates a healthy curiosity in kids, and establishes trust between them and I. I also enjoy reading, writing, and crafting, which are great home activities for more downtime.
I am a performer, and have found that it goes hand in hand with working with kids! They love to role play, pretend, and get up and DO things! As a sitter, I participate myself in make believe play with them, not just supervise it. This bonds the kids and I, and it's way more fun for me, too! I also have a passionate and conscientious eye on safety at all times, because true and free play only happens when kids feel comfortable and secure.
