About me
I grew up as the youngest of two in Niskayuna, NY. As a child, I found my love for the arts through acting, singing, writing, drawing, and painting. My parents also encouraged me to try several sports and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to enjoy rowing, judo, track, soccer, gymnastics and swimming. I went on to study Drama at New York University. Since graduating, I have been fortunate enough to work on some theater and short film projects. Like many actors, I have a surplus of energy and appreciate all aspects and stages of the human experience, so I love the opportunity babysitting provides for me to revisit the magical and exploratory nature of childhood.
I began babysitting as a high school student and some of my earliest childcare experience involved babysitting for two different sets of newborn twins - so now any childcare job feels like a breeze! I have worked with infants under a year old, toddlers, and children in preschool and elementary school. More recently, I babysat an energetic and adventurous 4 year old boy for 6 months during my last semester in college. My duties included picking him up from school and creating fun games for us to play. After that, I cared for an extraordinarily intelligent and curious 10 year old boy until he was 12 and ready to take on more independence. My responsibilities included picking him up from school, preparing him a snack, lunch for the next day, and often dinner. I helped him with homework and piano, took him to medical appointments, and occasionally supervised his bedtime and morning routine when his parents requested I stay overnight while they were away. Currently, I occasionally care for my neighbor’s 2 children upon request. I have been babysitting for them for the past 2 years, since their son was 8 months old and their daughter was 3 years old.
I have always sought out jobs that allow me to connect with humanity, from working with community outreach programs to leading the preparation of the daily community meal at a homeless shelter. This connects directly to why I love childcare - I believe there is no better way to contribute to society than to assist children in discovering their own path to health, happiness, and growth.
