I'm originally from Boston, Massachusetts and one of six children, so I learned pretty quickly how to share and be patient with large groups of kids. I started teaching dance at a musical theatre Summer camp when I was 15 years old and discovered I loved to teach as much as I loved to perform. I still continue to teach dance all over the country and find that I gain most of my inspiration from children. I'm always enamored while observing young artists. Whether it's that they are fearless and truly attack the material I’m displaying or watching how they process the steps I've demonstrated.
When I fell into the New York babysitting world, I discovered that I can use my teaching abilities and apply them to all different types of activities. I particularly enjoy taking one or two children to the park and within an hour find that I’ve helped them to make friends with numerous other kids. Noticing how children can communicate with one another without judgement is incredible to me. I strongly believe in teaching patience and acceptance of others and try to invite whoever wants to join us.
While I’m very physically active with dance and sports, I also practice bikram yoga and understand the importance of feeling relaxed. I’ve been told on many occasions that people like to have me around because I can make them feel calm. As a result, I think it’s key to show kids how to live a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally.
