As a nanny, I believe that a foundation built on trust is the most important matter. A child is much more likely to enjoy their time away from their parents if they are with someone who they know will protect them and they can be themselves around. Through working with a wide array of children over the years, I have learned that every child is profoundly different and each one has their own quirks, and interests. I love getting to know what these things are and then use my own creativity to plan activities accordingly. For example, the last little girl I worked with had the dream of becoming a fashion designer so I helped her transform a space in her room into a designer's studio and taught her how to collage designs out of magazines. I also worked with a boy who was obsessed with presidential history so we would just sit and read plot out historic landmarks on maps for him to hang on his bedroom walls.
I want the kids to look forward to spending time with me like they would a friend but also trust and respect me like they would a teacher.
Aside from working with children, I am an artist. I recently got my MFA here in New York. My work is often inspired by the minds of children (how they see the world and process difficult situations). I would love to share more of this with anyone who wants to hear about it. I feel I have the same wildly curious mind that children have and I've used that as a conduit into my artwork and my studio.
My health is also something that is extremely important to me and I try to teach the kids I spend time with to value theirs as well. I'm very active with yoga, spinning, and dance and love to cook healthy and nutritious meals for myself and for the families I work for.
