I am an opera singer, musician, and 'Manny' Living in NYC! I have been a 'Manny" for over 8 years in both the New York and Boston Metropolitan areas. My career in childcare started in high school, with occasional sitting for families in my New England town. This became more frequent over time, and by my junior year I acted as a moderately full-time nanny shared by 3 families. I worked with kids in the 1-7-year-old age bracket at that time, taking care of a newborn as well. My most regular family consisted of a 4-year-old boy, and a 7-year-old girl.
Once I graduated High School, and moved to NYC for college, my place as a nanny really solidified. Childcare in New York is unlike anywhere else. After having settled into school, I started working for a family in Chelsea with a 4-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy. This is the job I credit as my 'childcare bootcamp'. I really found my feet with this family, taking the kids all over the city, to play dates and activities, to theatre, and shows. You name it -- I did it! This family was also involved in NYC society, so I had the opportunity to learn how to act and behave at social events with children. I worked for this family for 2.5 years, until they sadly relocated to California.
Since then, I have worked jobs of all types with families of all types. I have had temp work with teenagers, and I worked in TriBeCa for a little over a year with a newborn and two elementary school-aged boys. I feel very comfortable and confident with children of all ages and types, and am sure I would be a perfect fit for any family.
I love working with children, and children love me. I have had so much fun with each child I have worked and such individual, unique experiences. I always end up learning just as much if not more than they have from me. This is definitely a second passion of mine, and I would love the opportunity to create some new memories!
