About me

When I was younger I switched back and forth between so many different career paths. One week I wanted to be a cook, the next I wanted to be a famous actress and the next week I may have wanted to be an astronaut. One feeling that never wavered was my desire to care for others. My nurturing nature pulled me toward baby dolls and pets, and as I got older it drew me to begin babysitting. Around my senior year of high school I began to realize childcare was not just something I liked to do in my free time, but that I wanted to make a career out of childcare. I love the energy children bring into a room. Their innocence and desire to learn and explore make childcare a job you never need a vacation from.

I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and I am currently pursuing my master's degree in Teaching in Literacy. I hold a NYS teaching license and will also be a certified literacy specialist upon completion of my master's degree. This will aid me immensely in helping develop the language and literacy skills of the children I provide care for. I have had the pleasure of working as a babysitter, camp counselor, full-time nanny and teaching assistant in preschool, kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classrooms. I have the most experience with early childhood aged children but have worked with children of all ages. I have several years of experience working in private households as a nanny. My experience and education has set me up with the tools I need to provide a fun and happy environment for children that stimulate healthy growth in each of their developmental stages.

I believe everyone should be passionate childcare because children are our future. Being a part of their development into well-rounded members of society is such an enjoyable and rewarding opportunity and fun!

I will be SmartSitting while...

When I'm not babysitting I spend a lot of time writing. I'm currently working on a series of children's books about a four-year-old girl navigating through life; the books will follow her up until she leaves for college. I love food and trying new foods, so cooking and visiting new restaurants is one of my favorite pastimes. To balance that out I like to keep active by spending some time in the gym or going for runs with my malti-poo named Banks.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In five years I hope to be completing my EDD in Education. I hope to also be a children's book author with a long term full-time job as a nanny for a wonderful family or a preschool teacher.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I took theatre class for all four years of my high school career, so dramatic play is definitely an activity I like to incorporate while babysitting. It is especially beneficial for children ages 6 and under because it really helps with their language and literacy development. For older children it is definitely a good time for them to express themselves and utilize their wonderful imaginations. I also believe remaining active is very important. When babysitting I love to do activities like going to the park, playing some sports or catch (depending on the age of the child) or even just taking a nice walk everyday to stretch our muscles. Reading and even creating our own stories is something I like to do often as well.
