I love coffee, reading, and staying physically active. I graduated from Elon University with a BFA in Music Theatre but moved to Houston immediately after graduation to serve a two-year commitment in the classroom with Teach For America. I taught 7th grade reading to 400+ students, ranging from vanguard to special needs, and the experience, in short, changed my life and taught me how to connect with people through trust and empathy. After my two years in Houston, I moved to New York City and started auditioning while working as a manny part-time with several families I connected with through SmartSitting. Eventually, I booked the Broadway first national tour of Cinderella and have been traveling full-time for about two years. I just got back to New York and am looking to find a meaningful part-time manny position with a family I connect with.
I love to work with children because I learn as much as they do; I have always viewed myself as a learner and even my childcare/instruction strategies are learner-based because I believe staying curious is correlated to living our best life. During my TFA commitment, I treated my students as if they were my own children because I don't believe there is any other way to teach. Every moment is a teachable moment with children and we as adults are their strongest influences in the modeling of mindsets, behaviors, and approaches to living in this world. My core values as a teacher and as a person are courage (telling your story with authenticity), integrity (choosing what's right over whats fun fast or easy), grit/resilience (falling seven times and standing up eight), and impact (most amount of influence with wisest distribution of efforts). My management style is kind but firm/assertive and I believe in setting boundaries, practicing expectations, and leading with love.
