Nanny Resumé Success: Expert Tips, Strategies, and Free Downloadable Template
Hello! My name is Madeline and I am the Recruitment Specialist for Smart Sitting. We are a childcare agency with over 13 years of experience working in the NYC area, as well as in a few other locations around the country. As innovators in childcare, we want to help professionalize this industry. One of the first things an employer will see during the hiring process is your resumé. I want to give you a few tips and tricks to help you put your best foot forward with agencies and parents alike!
Step 1: Gather all of your information
For each position you’ve worked, ensure you include the start and end dates, the title, and a brief description. If these positions are childcare related, it is also helpful to include the ages of the children when you started working with them, as well as the number of hours per week you worked. Please note that while working with family members is experience, it should not be listed on your resume. Only non-family positions should be listed.
Step 2: Formatting
Combine all the information into a document. Download our nanny resumé template below, and make it look cohesive! Use the same font throughout the resumé, and the same font size for the body. Make sure that the spacing looks neat as well. Your most recent experience should be at the top of the resumé, and you can go backward chronologically from there.
Step 3: Contact Information
Make sure at the top of your resumé, you include your name, your email, and if you are comfortable, a good phone number to reach you.
Step 4: References
Remember to also think about who your references would be. Parents and agencies are going to want to speak with parents and childcare professionals that you’ve had firsthand experience with. References are very important! Only put references' contact information on a resume if you have explicit consent from the reference.
With these tips and tricks, you’ll be working for a family in no time!
