Spring into Fun: 9 Delightful Easter and Spring Activities for Kids of All Ages

With spring and Easter just around the corner (and some of us maybe tired of the drudges of winter…), it's the perfect time to engage in some refreshing and colorful activities with your little ones.

These fun, easy, and inclusive activities are guaranteed to bring smiles and create lasting memories. From toddlers to school-aged children, we've got something for everyone, ensuring your spring is as lively and vibrant as the season itself!

For Toddlers: Sensory Play and Simple Crafts

1. Egg Carton Flowers: Transform egg cartons into a garden of colorful flowers. Toddlers will love painting and assembling these, helping to develop their fine motor skills. Simply cut out individual egg cups, let the kids paint them in bright colors, and attach them to green pipe cleaners for stems.

2. Bunny Hop Obstacle Course: Create a simple obstacle course in your backyard or living room with pillows, boxes, and soft toys. Encourage your little bunnies to hop their way through it, enhancing their physical coordination and bringing out lots of giggles.

For Preschoolers: Creativity and Exploration

3. Easter Egg Rock Hunt:  Instead of traditional egg hunts, paint rocks to look like Easter eggs and hide them around your garden or home. This eco-friendly activity sparks creativity in decoration and joy in the hunt, without the sugar rush!

4. DIY Seed Bombs: One of our stellar nannies sent in this activity, which we love. Mix some soil, clay, and wildflower seeds to create seed bombs. Preschoolers can then plant them in the garden or in pots, teaching them about growth and patience as they watch their flowers bloom.

For School-Aged Kids: Challenges and Learning

5. Egg Drop Science Experiment: Challenge older kids to create a contraption that can protect an egg from a high fall. Let them use plastic bags, paper, straws, anything you might have at home. This activity encourages problem-solving, creativity, and a bit of healthy competition.

6. Easter-Themed Bake-off: Host a family bake-off with Easter or spring-themed recipes. School-aged kids can read recipes, measure ingredients, and decorate their creations, fostering a sense of accomplishment and teamwork (plus sneaking in a bit of math practice). Carrot cake, anyone?

For All Ages: Family Bonding Activities

7. Family Gardening Project: if you have a yard (or a windowsill planter), choose a spot to start a family garden. Everyone can pitch in with planting seeds, watering, and eventually harvesting. It's a wonderful way to teach children about nature, responsibility, and the joy of seeing their efforts come to fruition. Apartment dwellers can easily create indoor herb gardens or little grass lawns in boxes.

8. Custom Easter Baskets: Rather than buying pre-made Easter baskets, have a crafting session where everyone decorates their own basket or bag with paints, stickers, and ribbons. Fill them with handmade gifts, notes, or treats that they can exchange with one another. This activity is easy to tailor to different ages so the whole family can play together.

9. Virtual Easter Egg Design: For a modern twist, use a drawing app or software to design Easter eggs. It's a clean, creative activity that can be shared with friends and family online, perfect for all ages.

Need Your Own Mary Poppins to Help Out?

(Full disclosure, not all of us are crafting mavens and are happy to leave those activities to the pros)

Spring and Easter are a fun time to shake off the last of winter and head into sunnier seasons, sometimes even a few days off for family time. That said, sometimes you need a childcare rockstar or two to help out (also, full disclosure, not all of us are crafting mavens and are happy to leave those activities to the pros).

As a nanny agency committed to the holistic development of children – and to supporting families in whatever they need – we are always here to assist you in finding the childcare that is just right for your family. Maybe that’s a seasoned, full-time nanny who can handle everything from sleep training to toddler haircuts, or maybe it’s an as-needed sitter who swoops in with egg-painting skills and giggles for a few days of spring break magic.

Either way, we’ve got you covered. If you’re looking for childcare, reach out to us today. A dedicated member of our team will listen to your needs, guide you through your options, and select just the right childcare solutions for you. Click the button below and get started!
