Meet our October SmartStars
As we enter the holiday season, our SmartSitters are staying busy in both long-term and short-term positions. Many of our sitters continue working with families through our partnership with Bright Horizons, filling in when their regular childcare is unavailable. As we’ve been doing all year, we continue to recognize and reward these backup care babysitters through our SmartStars program, with cash bonuses and gratitude galore.
You have met several of our regular SmartStars before, and some have shot straight up the board to higher levels. Dilly H., Shenique L., Katie M., and Rachel B. have all reached constellation level, our second tier. Sharon M. and Renee G. have both reached our Zodiac level, working over 300 hours with Bright Horizons backup care. We appreciate all the wonderful, diligent care they continue to provide families who really need their help.
Outstanding achievements in SmartStar Babysitting!
“She is very caring and very attentive with toddlers. Brilliant caregiver!”
For only the second time this year, one of the Smart Sitting SmartStars reached our top, Galaxy level. Shanele W. has worked over 1,000 hours of backup care this year, an amazing feat. We first introduced you to Shanele in February, when she was the first SmartSitter to reach the third tier, the Zodiac level.
Through 2021, Shanele has received exclusively 5 stars from the families with whom she’s worked. One family told us, “She went above and beyond for COVID safety.” Another pointed out, “She was very caring and patient with our daughter who is experiencing external care for the first time.”
Congratulations, Shanele, we are so glad to have you in our network!
New SmartStars in October
At this point in the year, we have many veteran SmartStars, but some SmartSitters are just now entering the SmartStars board for the first time. These sitters are currently at the Shooting Star tier, working a minimum of 75 hours with families through Bright Horizons backup care. We are excited to introduce you to them - and a few you haven’t met before who have already reached higher tiers - today!

“Working with children reminds me that these children are going to be the next generation, and we have to teach them how to be good to one another, have respect and make them succeed. My goal is to help children create a more loving and peaceful world for all of us.”
Katie M.
“I think children are so special because they are unapologetically themselves. The fear of failing doesn't stop them from trying something new and I think we can all take a page from their books. As a caregiver it is my goal to preserve that confidence and help your child find activities and topics that inspire them to learn and grow.”
Rachel B.
“I think it is important to keep children engaged in different activities both physical and intellectual. I am big on structure while also understanding that children need room to make their own choices. No matter the age, I love being around children.”
Habibatou S.
“My goal is to be an addition to the family to create a happier and more peaceful environment for the children. I believe every person involved in a kid’s life (parents, family members, siblings, caregivers) will have an impact in their life, therefore raising and caring for kids in the right way will essentially help them become the best version of themselves.”
Meagan O.
“I love working with children because they're generally honest with their concerns and emotions. Watching them develop new knowledge and skills each day is a wonderful thing to do.”
Hannah Z.
“I’ve helped run theatre camps for kids and love leading kids in creative theatre games. My greatest enjoyment is seeing the growth in a child from day 1 (when the nerves usually take over) to the final show of camp and witnessing that same child beam with confidence as they stand center stage!”
Leshanda M.
“Each step in my career so far in childcare has been extraordinary. The most rewarding moments for me are knwoing that a child feels safe, loved, and heard while in my care.”
